WE ARE PR.
The practice of public relations is constantly evolving. Five years ago, not many people had heard of Twitter — today, there are 100 million people who use the social network, and it drives the conversation in everything from entertainment to politics to sports. That's just one example of our ever—changing PR landscape, but it proves a point — if a PR team isn't learning new tactics and adapting to change every day, then it's already behind the times. To be executed effectively, it has to be planned thoroughly.
Open Channels Group understands that effective public relations require staying on top of an evolving industry. However, we also know that the fundamentals of good PR remain unchanged — your message has to be compelling and it has to be credible. If it's not, it doesn't matter what you're saying or whom you are saying it to.
Open Channels Group can help you craft that message — and then we'll devise the communications plan to deliver it to your target audiences, with an eye toward your organization's strategic goals and core values.

WE ARE P2.
From community relations to public participation, Open Channels Group has earned a reputation for success by providing communications strategies that build public trust and forge relationships with the right stakeholders. We begin our public participation — or P2 — approach by determining the level of engagement necessary to help guide our clients through the decision-making process. Open Channels Group's specific experience with transportation and urban planning projects gives us the ability to work collaboratively with our clients to help keep their projects on track. Whether a stakeholder is high-tech or prefers a more traditional approach, Open Channels Group tailors and executes P2 programs to meet your objectives and deliver tangible results.
For Open Channels Group, P2 goes beyond the meeting to engage audiences wherever they are. It's truly about "community visioning" with long-term sustainability in mind.
• We build trust with your audience.
• We solicit public input that adds value to your next project.
• We create effective communications tools that promote your message.
What is community outreach? Simply stated, it is the act of executing public awareness activities through targeted interaction with an audience. In our tool bag are a variety of innovative tools and techniques that facilitate community education, outreach and input. Let us serve as the change agents on your next project.

Brand Refresh, Communications Plan, Social Media Strategy
Alliance For Children (AFC), a Tarrant County nonprofit organization that helps children recover from the trauma of abuse, sought out OCG to develop a communications plan, social media strategy, and logo and branding refresh. In addition to redesigning AFC’s logo, OCG also developed a customized Facebook tab and timeline cover photo and Twitter background. CloseBaylor Health Care System
Stakeholder Identification, Media Relations
Baylor Health Care System approached OCG for stakeholder identification and media relations when it hosted the 2008 A Progressive Palliative Care Educational Curriculum for the Case of African Americans at Life's End (APPEAL) Project national conference in Dallas. APPEAL was developed by Duke University to unite health care providers and social workers with those who need and would most benefit from an enhanced and focused palliative initiative. OCG identified the target market and developed an extensive, but audience-specific list that spanned seven counties in North Texas, and generated media interest and coverage for the APPEAL Project, which boosted conference attendance and heightened the awareness of the issue of palliative care. As a result, the conference experienced the highest attendance numbers out of any APPEAL Project conference to date. In fact, so much interest was shown that registration maxed out. OCG secured print media coverage in The Dallas Morning News, online coverage on Nurses.com and a radio interview with the APPEAL Project conference chair on Soul 73 KKDA-AM, a popular weekday morning radio show for African Americans.

This project required several forms of communication to reach diverse interest groups. OCG targeted developers, transportation authorities, business owners, visitors, residents, decision–makers, property owners, and economic development organizations. Taskforce meetings, briefings, community meetings and project team meetings were all used to inform and engage multiple stakeholder groups. CloseFleishman–Hillard
PR, Media Relations for National Multicultural Campaign
AT&T wanted better results for its 28 Days national multicultural campaign, so it looked to OCG to make the program more relevant and successful for AT&T's target audience. OCG first partnered with AT&T for the 28 Days event in 2009, and has supported the annual campaign through media relations and event coordination since. By leveraging existing relationships and developing new ones with media in key African American markets, the 2011 campaign garnered more than 27 million public relations impressions and secured print placement in several prominent African American publications and TV news coverage in target markets. OCG also developed three internal AT&T articles that garnered 18,000 page views. In 2011 and 2012, OCG has traveled to nine cities across the U.S. to serve as an on-site presence and coordinate media for 28 Days events.

OCG crafted a plan to educate and guide the public through final planning and construction of the county's first toll road in nearly four decades – Chisholm Trail Parkway. CloseNorth Texas Tollway Authority
Grassroots Community Outreach
As part of its commitment to build and operate rail when feasibly possible in one of its highest ridership zones, The Fort Worth Transporation Authority (The T) selected rail consultant R.L. Banks and Associates (RLBA) and community outreach expert OCG to study the southeast area of Fort Worth. The budget–conscious OCG team used creative techniques to ensure the public was engaged in the rail feasibility study beyond traditional tools such as community meetings, websites, newsletters and online surveys. With the help of local university students, OCG devised a grassroots campaign to solicit maximum public input. The students conducted "person on the street" interviews at various locations and bus routes in the study area. These encounters gave OCG deeper insight into the community's perspectives, including current and potential usage of The T in the study area, number of stations, station placement and traffic impacts. Based on the data compiled by OCG, RLBA was able to make a detailed recommendation to The T Board of Directors that included a technical evaluation and feedback from stakeholders.

To convey the program's heightened sense of priority for the City of Fort Worth, OCG and Cooksey Communications coordinated a press conference with City and bank leaders. OCG concentrated on minority media relations and worked to develop and translate collateral materials into Spanish for the outreach program. In addition, OCG was solely responsible for developing and executing a strategic community relations campaign, targeting potential program applicants, elected official and grassroots community leaders. This outreach campaign focused on, but was not exclusive to, the African American and Hispanic communities of Fort Worth. The press conference attracted nearly 100 attendees, including Fort Worth City Council members, Tarrant County Commissioners, the mayor of Fort Worth, Fort Worth city staff, OmniAmerican executives, and residents of southeast Fort Worth where the event took place. Local media coverage included television, radio and print representatives from WFAA Channel 8, KTVT 11, KRLD 1080–AM, Star–Telegram, and Panorama. "What the River Means to Me" Art Contest
The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) and Trinity River Vision Authority (TRVA) share an objective to make the river accessible to all citizens. To help promote this natural resource and its amenities to the community TRWD and TRVA called on OCG. Using a "take the river to the people" strategy, OCG facilitated the formation of a partnership with the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) to help young citizens experience the Trinity River in a new way: an art contest. A seven–member panel comprised of community leaders judged more than 200 entries. TRWD donated $500 to each school's art department and the top three artists from each school received cash prizes. The student's artwork will be on display at various locations along the Trinity River and at community events. The art contest was covered by several local print and broadcast media outlets. Due to the art contest's success, the program will return next semester and will expand to include additional FWISD schools.
